History

Edward Ang and his brother, Albert Ang, founded Ocean Sky in 1995 with a staff of just over 20 employees. The humble beginnings belie great changes taking place in the apparel industry. The 1990s saw the rise of globalization where complex trade regimes coupled with the increasingly borderless movement of capital, goods and people meant that leading apparel players need to take advantage of new opportunities to stay competitive. Armed with this knowledge, Edward and Albert set out to rapidly expand regional production bases to take advantage of better cost structures and trade quotas made available in certain emerging markets. This formula proved a success in meeting the needs of international clientele. Ocean Sky’s business performance has grown in tandem with this successful formula and its revenue has risen significantly since the late 1990s.

In view of its strong business track record, in 2003, Ocean Sky achieved its maiden listing on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange (“SGX”) and the Board and management set about formulating a plan of action to bring the Group to a new and higher level of growth. Today, Ocean Sky has an integrated global apparel supply chain service model that offers one-stop solution to handle complex requirements across geographical boundaries. Ocean Sky has become a well established name in the apparel industry with production sizeable, technology driven manufacturing hubs in Central America, China, Cambodia, Vietnam and Madagascar.
